Setting up geofences

Applies to version 26.99.5

A geofence is the circle around a site that confirms a worker checked in where they should.

Setting it up

1
Open the project geofence editor
Drop the site location on the map (or auto-locate your device).
2
Set the radius
Choose a radius in metres that comfortably covers the site.
3
Save
Check-ins are now compared against this circle.
Pick a sensible radius
Too tight and genuine check-ins near the edge get flagged as outside the geofence; too loose and off-site check-ins slip through. Match the radius to the real site footprint.

What the geofence does

  • Compares each check-in's GPS to the site circle.
  • Flags check-ins that fall outside (with the distance), so you can review them.
  • If a project has no geofence set, the location check is simply skipped.
Tip
Geofencing uses your Google Maps key from Settings for the map picker. Add it once and reuse it across every project.

Frequently asked questions

No — the check-in still records, but it is flagged as outside the geofence with the distance, so you can decide whether to accept it.

No. Without one, the location check is skipped. Adding one improves the trustworthiness of on-site time.
